Recent News with the National Association of Realtors
I’m sure many of you have read or heard on the news that the National Association of Realtors is proposing to settle a lawsuit involving sellers. Many of the headlines have suggested major changes in how much realtors are compensated, and some of those headlines have claimed that commissions are going away. This is a complicated issue that could change the way many realtors do business, but it is not as simple as what the news media is reporting. In fact, many of those articles are not factual at all. I have been disappointed in much of the coverage around the issue.
Overall, we think these changes will transform our industry in many positive ways. The new rules will require that we educate buyers and sellers thoroughly which is always a positive, and something that many of us in the industry are already doing. I personally believe that any change that serves to give buyers and sellers more knowledge around the home buying process is always a good thing!
